Synopsis

Introduction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a common surgical procedure to restore knee stability and function after ACL injury. Successful recovery involves both pre-surgical and post-surgical rehabilitation, which are crucial for functional recovery and early return to work. Proper rehabilitation aims to optimize joint mobility, strength, and stability, promoting early restoration of function and minimizing the risk of complications.

Aims and Objective:

1.The Role  of pre-surgical & post-surgical rehabilitation for functional recovery  after “Anterior Cruciate ligament”Reconstruction for Early return to Work & Early Restoration of Functional Recovery.

2.Assessment of the functional outcome of the cases by using IKDC SCORING SYSTEM and TEGNER LYSHOLM KNEE SCORING, Visual Analog Scale(VAS).

Methods: This prospective study included patients undergoing ACL reconstruction. Participants received structured pre-surgical and post-surgical rehabilitation. Functional outcomes were measured at various intervals using the IKDC, Tegner Lysholm, and VAS scores. The time taken for patients to return to work was also recorded, along with the impact of rehabilitation on functional recovery.

Results: Patients who received comprehensive rehabilitation showed significant improvements in functional scores and had a quicker return to work. Higher IKDC and Tegner Lysholm scores correlated with early restoration of knee function. Post-surgical rehabilitation was particularly effective in accelerating recovery.

Conclusion: Pre-surgical and post-surgical rehabilitation play a critical role in enhancing functional recovery after ACL reconstruction. These rehabilitation protocols lead to early return to work and improved functional outcomes, emphasizing the importance of structured rehabilitation for optimal recovery.
