Introduction: Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is a significant concern during pregnancy, particularly in primigravida women. PIH can lead to adverse maternal and fetal outcomes, including preeclampsia, organ damage, and preterm birth. Early prediction and monitoring of PIH are crucial to managing these risks. Gestosis scoring and pentamarker assessments have emerged as potential tools for predicting the onset of PIH.
Aim and Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gestosis scoring and pentamarker in predicting the development of PIH in primigravida women. It seeks to compare the predictive accuracy of these methods and their utility in early identification of at-risk pregnancies.
Methods: A cohort of 150 primigravida women was followed from the first trimester through delivery. Gestosis scoring, which includes various clinical and biochemical parameters, and pentamarker, a set of biomarkers associated with PIH risk, were assessed. Blood pressure measurements, along with laboratory tests for the pentamarker profile, were recorded throughout pregnancy. The incidence of PIH was monitored and correlated with the scores.
Results: Gestosis scoring and pentamarker showed a significant correlation with the onset of PIH in primigravida women. The combined use of both methods demonstrated a higher sensitivity and specificity in predicting PIH compared to individual assessments. Elevated biomarker levels and specific gestosis scoring criteria were indicative of increased PIH risk.
Conclusion: Gestosis scoring and pentamarker are valuable predictive tools in identifying primigravida women at risk for PIH. These methods can aid in early intervention and management, potentially reducing complications associated with PIH and improving maternal and fetal outcomes.
