Association of Serum Sodium, Creatinine, Triglyceride, and Blood Glucose in Patients with Hypertension Attending a Tertiary Care Hospital (Code-T0237)

Introduction: Hypertension is a major global health burden, contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. It is associated with metabolic and biochemical alterations, including changes in serum sodium, creatinine, triglyceride, and glucose levels. Understanding these associations is crucial for early detection and management of hypertension-related complications.

Aims and Objectives:

Aim: Association Of Serum Sodium, Creatinine, Triglyceride And Blood Glucose In Patients With Hypertension Attending, Tertiary Care Hospital.

Objectives:

1.To estimate the serum levels of sodium, creatinine, triglyceride and glucose in chronic cases of hypertension.

2.To study the correlation between serum Triglyceride-glucose index and establish it as a predictor of hypertensive risk.

Methods: A hospital-based observational cross-sectional study was conducted at Tezpur Medical College & Hospital over one year. Hypertensive patients attending the outpatient department were included based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Serum sodium, creatinine, triglyceride, and glucose levels were estimated using a semi-automated analyzer. Data analysis was performed using appropriate statistical tools.

Results: The study is expected to establish significant correlations between serum sodium, creatinine, triglyceride, and glucose levels in hypertensive patients. The TyG index may serve as a reliable marker for predicting hypertension risk, contributing to early diagnosis and better management strategies.

Conclusion: The findings will provide insights into the metabolic alterations in hypertensive patients, helping in risk stratification and management. Monitoring these biochemical parameters may aid in preventing hypertension-related complications.
