Synopsis

Introduction: Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDPs) significantly impact maternal and fetal health, contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. HDPs, including gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, and eclampsia, affect 4–10% of pregnancies worldwide and account for nearly 15% of maternal deaths. The study aims to evaluate maternal and fetal outcomes among hypertensive pregnant women in a rural tertiary care setting.

Aims and Objectives:

Aims: To Study maternal and fetal outcome in antenatal Hypertensive mothers coming to a

tertiary institution

Primary Objective

To study the maternal and fetal outcomes in antenatal hypertensive mothers coming to a tertiary centre

Secondary Objective

To know the duration of pregnancy at which hypertension was diagnosed and to identify the various complications that occur during the pregnancy

Methods: This cross-sectional observational study will be conducted over 18 months in a rural tertiary care hospital. A sample of 355 hypertensive pregnant women will be evaluated. Data collection will include demographic details, maternal risk factors, laboratory findings, and neonatal outcomes. Statistical analysis will be performed using SPSS software.

Results: The study is expected to highlight significant correlations between hypertensive disorders and adverse maternal-fetal outcomes, including preterm birth, low birth weight, and increased neonatal ICU admissions. The findings will contribute to better management strategies for HDPs in resource-limited settings.

Conclusion: Identifying maternal and fetal risks associated with HDPs will help improve antenatal care and pregnancy outcomes. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial in reducing complications and mortality rates in hypertensive pregnancies.
