Synopsis

Introduction: Sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by a dysregulated immune response to infection, is associated with high mortality. The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score evaluates organ dysfunction severity, while leukocyte markers like HLA-DR, CD64, CD25, TLR, PD-L1, and CD14 provide insights into immune status.

Aim and Objectives

Aim: To find the correlation of SOFA score with the expression of various leucocytes markers (HLA DR, CD64, CD25, TLR, PDL1, CD14) in sepsis patient

Objectives:

  1. To see which parameter of SOFA score is associated with altered expression of Leucocyte markers (HLA-DR, CD64, CD25, TLR, PDL1, CD14) in sepsis patient.
  2. To predict which parameter of SOFA score will be related to prolonging Immuno-suppression and the patient's outcome.

Methods: A prospective study design was adopted. Leukocyte marker expression and SOFA scores were assessed in sepsis patients. Statistical analyses included correlation studies and regression models to evaluate the relationship between marker expression, SOFA parameters, and clinical outcomes.

Results: HLA-DR exhibited a moderate-to-strong negative correlation with SOFA scores, suggesting lower immune dysfunction and better prognosis with higher expression. Conversely, CD64, CD25, and CD14 showed positive correlations, indicating heightened immune activation and organ dysfunction. PD-L1's strong positive correlation with SOFA scores reflected immune exhaustion. The variable correlation of TLR subtypes with SOFA scores highlighted the complexity of immune responses in sepsis.

Conclusion: The study establishes a significant association between leukocyte markers and SOFA scores, highlighting their potential as prognostic tools in sepsis. Monitoring these markers may guide early interventions and improve patient outcomes.
